The Abbey Church in Dublin City’s Parnell Square is often referred to as Findlater's Church in honour of its benefactor, Alexander Findlater. The wine merchant donated money to purchase the land and build the church which opened in 1864. The restoration work on the building and church culminated in the celebration of its 160th anniversary in 2024. James Joyce refers to Findlater’s Church in two of his works.
Today Abbey Presbyterian Church is a hub for several Christian communities: Presbyterian (multinational), Pentecostal (Romanian) and Orthodox (Eritrean). Everyone is welcome.
